Here is my card for the latest Through the Craftroom Door challenge. This time around, the challenge was to create a distressed card. The sponsor is Guylou’s Inimintability, and she is offering up a $10 gift certificate to the winner! Also, please don’t forget about Aletha sponsoring us on a monthly basis, $18 gift certificate to her store as well!
Well, first things first, distressing is …. distressing! It isn’t a technique I use very often, so this project was outside the box for me. But it was a fun one to do, too, I must admit. The background is a digital image from Digital Two for Tuesday that I just fell in love with. As soon as Cora posted it, I knew it had to be part of this project somehow. I printed it out and then used Old Paper, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Vintage Photo Distress inks on the paper, and then I used Tim Holtz’s flicking method to flick water onto the cardstock to create the splotches. The adorable bear with the hat is one of Guylou’s creations. I colored him using Crayola colored pencils and Gamsol for blending. The pocketwatch is from Free Vintage Digital Stamps, and I thought it fit right into the card. The ribbon is from the CTMH line, from the Blue Ribbon set. The bottom layer and text are stamped using Vintage Photo Distress ink, the middle pinked circle was cut on my Cricut using the Art Philosophy cartridge and then stamped using Tea Dye Distress ink. All three elements are raised up using 1/16″ pop dots.
This card is being entered into the following challenges:
- Through the Craftroom Door – Challenge #27 Any Form of Distressing
- C.R.A.F.T. Challenge – Background Text

…makes a beautiful note card. This image is from Sandi for the Outlawz CFC.
The background is on plain white cardstock. Then, I used a background stamp by All Night Media and “inked” it up with Copper Adirondak Acrylic Paint. After it dried, I went over it with Broken China Distresss Stain. I love how the stain resists the paint. The rosettes are by Basic Grey, and I thought the colors went well with the background. The boot itself is colored with Crayola colored pencils and blended with Gamsol. The “a little note…” is from Stampin’ Up’s You’re My Type stamp set and cut out with one of their punches.

Here is my card for the TTCRD challenge #26.
The sponsors for this challenge are Anary from Gilli Stamps and Michelle from Michelle Perkett Studio. One winner will receive a Gilli goodie bag, and one will receive a $10 gift certificate for Michelle’s Etsy store.
This image is one from Dustin Pike, and it’s his adorable Dudley Dragon. I embossed the background using my Cuttlebug and some paper from my stash. The image is also matted on paper from my stash. The ribbon is from MSE. Dudley has been colored using a combination of Crayola and Prismacolor pencils, using Gamsol to blend the pencils. I actually made the card for my nephew Jack, who just lost his first tooth the first week in May. He was very excited about it.

Just a quick post for the current CDAC Progressive Freebie Challenge.
Isn’t this a sweet image? Mami Doodles donated this image for the challenge. I colored it with Crayola colored pencils and blended it with Gamsol. The background papers are from my stash, and the ribbon is from Michaels. The embossed oval is a Spellbinders Die.

Here is my card for the Outlawz Creative Freebie Challenge.
For this card, I used cardstock from my stash for the background. The dragonfly image is a beautiful one donated for the challenge by Sandi. The dragonfly is colored using Crayola colored pencils with Gamsol and the Prismacolor colorless blender. For the sentiment, I cut it out using a die and stamp set by My Favorite Things. The flowers are pages from a book punched using a 1 1/4″ scallop punch. The sentiment and flowers are then colored using Distress Inks in Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo. The center of the flowers are Decorative Accents from Michaels colored in with Neopiko 2 marker. The sentiment is stamped with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.

Here is my latest creation, a Mother’s Day card made using my Cricut!
This card was a lot of fun to make. For the background, I used Making Memories paper from the Brights mat stack. After cutting it down to size, I used my Janome Sew Mini to stitch a border around the edges of the card. The gorgeous “lace” doily is a My Favorite Things Die-Namics die that I got for Christmas. I cut it out of vellum. The “Happy Mother’s Day” phrase is cut on my Cricut using the Mother’s Day 2010 cartridge. I used Liquid Pearls as well as flat back pearls to accent the card.
This card will be entered into the following challenges:
- Through the Craftroom Door – Challenge #25
- Shopping our Stash – Challenge #50
- DYSU – #70 Circles
- Cardz TV – Challenge #107

Here is a Mother’s Day card I created using a digital image by Nana Vic for the CDAC Progressive Freebie Challenge.
For this card, the background paper is from the Making Memories Brights Mat Stack. I actually did some sewing on my Janome Sew Mini (although it’s not altogether straight…) on the card. It’s the first time I’ve used the sewing machine on a card. The light green twine is from my stash, and I used a Cuttlebug die to create the circle tag out of paper from my stash. Then, I used an EK Success 1″ punch for the center and hand wrote in the word “Mom” for the tag. The image itself is colored with a combination of Neopiko 2 and Bic Mark Its.
Onesie Cupcakes April 22, 2012

Okay, so this is out-of-the-box for me… I made some onesie cupcakes for a baby shower.
Aren’t they cute? I love how they turned out. I got the idea from someone’s blog (please leave a comment if you know where!)… I’ve done a google search, and all I can come up with are the version where you use receiving blankets, onesies, and coffee filters — cute, but not what I did with mine or where I got the idea!
These are super easy to make, too! Using my wonderful Cameo, I used a file from the Silhouette store to make the cupcake holders. Then, using SCAL 3 and a cupcake wrapper svg file from Heather M, I used the Cameo to cut out the wrappers, sized correctly for regular baking cups. Because the parents-to-be do not want to find out if their new arrival will be a boy or a girl, I used regular white onesies. I laid them front down, folded back the sleeves so they wouldn’t show and folded up the butt end so the snaps wouldn’t show. Then, I folded the onesie in half lengthwise. From the bottom of the onesie, I started rolling it up and put it into the baking cup. I popped that into the cupcake wrapper, and then “decorated” the cupcake with a Prima flower and a Making Memories brad.

Well, the challenge this time around at Through the Craftroom Door is to showcase your favorite technique. Do you realize how difficult this is?? There are way too many techniques that I love! However, having to pick just one technique to show, I chose to do watercoloring with Distress Ink. Over the last year, I have become a huge fan of Tim Holtz’s Distress Ink line for a variety of reasons. One of those reasons is because you can “paint” with these inks. They react with water (or in this case, with water AND shimmer), and you can get some really beautiful effects with them.
For this challenge, our sponsor is Floppy Latte Designs, and they are offering a $10.00 voucher to their store for the winner. Also, don’t forget that our monthly sponsor, Aletha from Ippity is offering a $18.00 gift certificate to her store.
Let me welcome Darlene & Kevin to the TTCRD DT as well! We are glad to have you aboard.
For this card, I used designer paper for the background. The green marbled cardstock is from Archivers, and the salmon and white paper is from the Recollections Fashionably Chic paper pad. The lacy bit going across the card is cut from Wausau white cardstock using a Spellbinders die, and the green flat back pearls are from a challenge I won. The sentiment is from Paulette’s Create with TLC blog, and it was a freebie that she had given away there. The tea pot and teacup are from Floppy Latte’s Digital Designs. For the watercoloring effect, I used the following Distress Inks: Spun Sugar, Festive Berries, Mustard Seed, and Peeled Paint. These were mixed with a spritz or two of Tsukineko’s Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz to give it a little extra glimmer, although it is hard to pick up in the photograph.
This card will be entered into the following challenges:
- Through the Craftroom Door – Challenge #24 Show Me Your Favorite Technique
- Cute Card Thursday – Challenge #212 Spring Flowers
- 2 Sisters Challenge Blog – Challenge #87 Flowers
- Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays – Pastels

Here’s a card I created for the CDAC Progressive Challenge.
What a cute image, right? Bugaboo donated this image for the challenge, and I love it! I colored it in using Crayola colored pencils and Gamsol. Then, I matted it onto Basis navy cardstock. The card base itself is from a set of DCWV textured, pre-printed cards. The chipboard butterfly is painted with an Adirondak Acrylic Paint Dabber in Silver, and the flower beads are something that I won in a challenge so I’m not sure where they came from.
