Spending Time with the Family September 2, 2010

This week, my parents rented a cottage in Saugatuck, MI to spend some time with my brother and his family.  I was invited to visit, so I went out there yesterday morning.  We had a lot of fun!  I haven’t been out to Saugatuck in a few years, so it was nice to visit again.  We stayed at Goshorn Lake Cottages, which was really nice.  The cottage my parents rented was right on the end, so there wasn’t much traffic.  Bonus for the little kids running around, that’s for sure.  They also had a lot of activities for the kids to do, right on-site.  Jack and Emma loved being right on the beach, having a pool, and having a small playground (with the all-important swings).

I love cereal!

Julia is eating her breakfast in the morning.  Doesn’t it look yummy?

Eric, Jack, & Emma out shooting some hoops

Jack's attempt at dribbling... Emma shooting a soccer ball

Slam Dunk!

There she goes!!  (With a little help from Daddy….)  Slam dunk!!  And she just had to stick out that tongue, too!

At the Park

Emma is posing in front of the pretty flowers that she stopped to show Grandma.

My first pony ride

Okay, so it’s not a real pony…. It’s one of those pony rides you put money in.  We went for a walk last night in Saugatuck, and the Coral Gables had a bunch of these types of rides for the kids to sit on.  This is Julia and Mommy.

Chain Ferry

This chain ferry has been around for quite a while, as you can see.  Eric and I remember it as one of the highlights of staying in Saugatuck when we were kids…. getting to ride the chain ferry.  Unfortunately, when we got there last night it was already closed (it was 6:40 p.m.).  Today, the ferry was closed so we didn’t get to go.  Everyone is hoping that they will be able to go on it tomorrow.

Julia and Papa

Dad is relaxing with Julia at the cottage.  Can’t believe how big she’s gotten!

I'm a plane!

Here is Julia this morning having some Tummy Time.   She looks like she’s pretending to be an airplane, don’t you think?
