Techniques! April 15, 2012

Well, the challenge this time around at Through the Craftroom Door is to showcase your favorite technique. Do you realize how difficult this is?? There are way too many techniques that I love!  However, having to pick just one technique to show, I chose to do watercoloring with Distress Ink.  Over the last year, I have become a huge fan of Tim Holtz’s Distress Ink line for a variety of reasons.  One of those reasons is because you can “paint” with these inks.  They react with water (or in this case, with water AND shimmer), and you can get some really beautiful effects with them.

For this challenge, our sponsor is Floppy Latte Designs, and they are offering a $10.00 voucher to their store for the winner.  Also, don’t forget that our monthly sponsor, Aletha from Ippity is offering a $18.00 gift certificate to her store.

Let me welcome Darlene & Kevin to the TTCRD DT as well!  We are glad to have you aboard.

For this card, I used designer paper for the background.  The green marbled cardstock is from Archivers, and the salmon and white paper is from the Recollections Fashionably Chic paper pad.  The lacy bit going across the card is cut from Wausau white cardstock using a Spellbinders die, and the green flat back pearls are from a challenge I won.  The sentiment is from Paulette’s Create with TLC blog, and it was a freebie that she had given away there.  The tea pot and teacup are from Floppy Latte’s Digital Designs.  For the watercoloring effect, I used the following Distress Inks:  Spun Sugar, Festive Berries, Mustard Seed, and Peeled Paint. These were mixed with a spritz or two of Tsukineko’s Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz to give it a little extra glimmer, although it is hard to pick up in the photograph.

This card will be entered into the following challenges:
