Distressed Card June 1, 2012

Here is my card for the latest Through the Craftroom Door challenge.  This time around, the challenge was to create a distressed card.  The sponsor is Guylou’s Inimintability, and she is offering up a $10 gift certificate to the winner!  Also, please don’t forget about Aletha sponsoring us on a monthly basis, $18 gift certificate to her store as well!

Well, first things first, distressing is …. distressing! It isn’t a technique I use very often, so this project was outside the box for me.  But it was a fun one to do, too, I must admit.  The background is a digital image from Digital Two for Tuesday that I just fell in love with.  As soon as Cora posted it, I knew it had to be part of this project somehow.  I printed it out and then used Old Paper, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Vintage Photo Distress inks on the paper, and then I used Tim Holtz’s flicking method to flick water onto the cardstock to create the splotches.  The adorable bear with the hat is one of Guylou’s creations.  I colored him using Crayola colored pencils and Gamsol for blending.  The pocketwatch is from Free Vintage Digital Stamps, and I thought it fit right into the card.  The ribbon is from the CTMH line, from the Blue Ribbon set.  The bottom layer and text are stamped using Vintage Photo Distress ink, the middle pinked circle was cut on my Cricut using the Art Philosophy cartridge and then stamped using Tea Dye Distress ink.  All three elements are raised up using 1/16″ pop dots.

This card is being entered into the following challenges:
