Foiling and Brusho April 30, 2016

Happy Saturday!  For today’s project, I’m sharing a card I created using another foiled image and some Brusho.

Sorry about the photo, but it was very difficult to get a decent photo of the foiled part since there was more solid foiling. The cucumber image was a freebie from the TLC Creations blog. The black paper is the gorgeous Epic Black from the Linen line which is currently on special for 50% off.  Go and nab some while it is at a fantastic price!  The cucumber image is matted on Solar White, also from the same line.  I used a combination of Lemon Yellow, Sea Green, and Turquoise Brusho on the white cardstock and let it air dry before matting it onto a card base of Epic Black.  The floral border peeking out from above the cucumber image is cut using one of the Pocket Pen Pal dies, cut from some scrap paper from my stash.  I inked it with Tea Leaves VersaMagic ink and embossed it using some Ranger Holographic embossing powder.

Hot Glue Roses April 24, 2016

Staying in the whole handmade embellishment theme, I tried my hand at some hot glue roses.  I saw this technique on Maymay Helms’s channel here.

These are made using a high temperature Surebonder glue gun.  I found that I had to wait to drop the rolled rose shapes onto the blob of hot glue.  If I dropped them immediately into the blob of hot glue, the entire thing melted.  I’m pretty happy with how these turned out, and I can make them in whatever colors I want or need.  These happen to be painted with two coats of Watermelon Adirondack acrylic paint.

Foiled Carnations April 16, 2016

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!  For today’s project, I’m sharing a card created using some beautifully textured paper that is foiled – yes, foiled!

For this card, I printed out a beautiful carnation image by Create with TLC using my laser printer on Epic Black cardstock.  This is an awesome black cardstock that has a very light texture.  Using toner reactive foil, I sent the image through my Minc machine, which resulted in this beautiful image.  I cut it out using a Ticket Framelits die and adhered it to a doily which is matted onto one of the beautiful Hambly Studio screenprints (a portion of Vintage Patchwork).  Since the screenprints are definitely a layering element, you do need to use a nice, sturdy card base.  For this purpose, I chose to use Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock.

Handmade Embellishments April 15, 2016

Lately, I’ve been wanting to stretch my wings a little bit.  I’ve been working on some of the Mixed Media Morsels (here‘s a link to the first video), making mini albums, and using different mediums.  Well, another thing I have never really done is to try creating making my own embellishments.  Stacy (Pink Poodle Crafts) has an excellent blog post here as well as a YouTube channel that is just jam packed with creative ideas.

Anyhow, here is what I created using mostly scraps from my stash.

I absolutely love how these came out – and I thank Stacy for information on the technique.  I think these embellishments are going to be fantastic to use on cards or mixed media projects, and I shopped my stash to create them.  I also used some punches that I haven’t gotten out in quite a while – another bonus!  I did use a square punch to cut the tails because they generally came out much more even than when I tried to use a pair of scissors to cut them, and I also used a paper trimmer to make my strips.  I tried using scissors and (again) I found that the uneven edges just bothered me too much.

This card is for the Imagine That! digis by Kris Facebook DT call.

For this card, I started with some Desert Storm Kraft cardstock.  I love how it embosses, and I think it’s a fantastic neutral card base that works for many different styles.

The image is Leesa’s Tulip, and I think she is perfect for Spring!  Not to say that I would know what spring is right now since we had snow today and are forecast to have more tomorrow – hoping none of it sticks!  She is printed on Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock and colored with the following Copic markers: 110, E07, E30, E31, E50, E55, E57, N0, N2, R08, R20, RV0000, RV00, RV02, RV04, RV06, YG13, and YG21.  Then, I used Sizzix Decorative Frames dies to cut the image, a frame, and a mat.  The frame is cut from some scrap paper from my stash, and the bottom mat is cut from green glitter paper.  I used some foam tape to pop up the cute little sentiment.

Pretty Kitty April 2, 2016

Wow, can you believe it’s already April?  For today’s project, I’m sharing the card I created for the Facebook challenge.  The adorable Angel Cat is one of Stef’s.  You can find it at the The Stamping Boutique.

The base of this card is amazing.  You really have to feel it to believe it, but it’s made using the Cream Velvet specialty paper.  It is absolutely luscious and velvety soft! I think the cream color lends itself to a very rich, luxurious feeling.  The image is printed out on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored with the following Copic markers: C0, C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, E50, E51.  It is then matted on Graystone, a beautiful textured paper.
