Operation Write Home, a charity that has supported heroes with handmade cards since 2007, will be closing later this year.  All cards need to be sent in by August 1st, so I’m helping to get the word out!

Thank you for visiting, and I hope that you’re enjoying the blog hop!  What bittersweet news to hear that Operation Write Home will be closing its doors.  I wanted to take part in this final blog hop to help it to finish strong.

Here is my card for the blog hop.  For this card, the base and main layers are made from Columns 80# cardstock in Solar White and Red Pepper.  The white cardstock is stamped with Unity‘s Secret Garden stamp in Versamark Ink and then embossed with navy embossing powder.  I colored some white crochet thread with a red alcohol marker and wrapped it around the card.

You may return to the blog hop list by clicking on the Operation Write Home Finishing Strong banner at the top of this post.

Here is my entry for the Just Rite Friday Challenge 049 – Technique: Direct to Rubber.

For this challenge, we had to use markers or different ink pads to get more than one color onto our Just Rite stamps.  I wanted to make a happy, spring-themed card.  The umbrella filled with flowers is a digital image by Glitterbabe.  It is an older image.  You can find Glitterbabe’s new store here.   The yellow cardstock is Reflections from Michaels.  The beautiful embossing technique is from Operation Write Home’s blog, and I thank Pam for posting it there.  It is a beautiful technique and one that I hope to use more often.  I used my Cuttlebug and the Plum Blossoms embossing folder.  The flowers are Prima flowers.  The stamp is from the Just Rite Chique Stamper Kit.  I used the purple and light blue Marvy Uchida brush markers on the stamp, both from the Primary Set, to color the stamp.  Then, I used one of Anna Griffin’s pigment inks in pink to color around the edge.  The stamp was cut out with a Nestabilities oval die.

This is my entry for Michelle Perkett Studio’s challenge for Operation Write Home.

For this card, I used one of Michelle’s digital images, Thomas.  I combined him with a digital cake image from Paulette at Create with TLC and a sentiment and party hat from Hero Arts’ Birthday set.  Copics used for these images:  0, E00, E33, E50, E57, E59, Y13, Y23, YG17, YG91, YR02, and YR07.  I also used Glossy Accents on the frosting for a little shine.
