Okay, so I’m not really all that into making my own jewelry, but I signed up to take a wire wrapped bracelet class at Stony Creek Bead in Ypsilanti with Debb. I really enjoyed the class (it is Part 1 of a 3-part class), and we are planning on taking Part 2 next month.  This first class was to learn basic techniques for wire wrapping, and it is required to continue on to Part 2, which is a wire-wrapped pendant.

Another nice thing about taking the class at Stony Creek Bead is they provide the basic supplies necessary to complete the project.  You must purchase the consumables, of course, but I did not have to bring any tools.  Definitely a plus for first-timers, since they may never use those tools again!

I used an antiqued bronze finished wire, both 21 gauge half round and square wire.  The instructor, Dave, also polishes and cuts stones.  He is very easy to work with, and he was full of useful tidbits of information about jewelry making. I haven’t had a chance to make another bracelet, but I’d like to give something wider a try next.
