Alphabet Stamps

Here’s my latest card for the Stretch Your Stamps 2 class.  For this one, I used a clear alphabet stamp set that I have had for years and never used.  I’m not huge on using alphabet stamps because I have a difficult time lining them up and stamping with them.  Another downside to having just the letters of a single alphabet set means that I have to either choose words with no repeating letters or I have to stamp them individually.  Although I really liked the way the skinny letters in the class looked, I chose to use the alphabet stamps that I own.  I actually like the way this card turned out – yep, I’m surprised.

For this card, I started out using Archival Ink in Jet Black on Bazzill cardstock.  I used Archival Ink because I thought I would watercolor on top of the ink like in class.  However, I didn’t have any lighter inks that are waterproof, so I wound up stamping the grey letters using Weathered Wood Distress Ink.  Obviously, that meant I couldn’t use watercolors on this card!  So instead, I used Salty Ocean, Broken China, and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks to get a similar gradation of colors.  The original piece of cardstock was almost the same size as an A2 sized card, and the bottom portion faded to white, but I decided that I wanted to mount it at an angle, similar to the card done for class.  When I cut the piece of paper down, I lost that fade to white, but I’m still happy with how the card itself came out.
